Overview: Malcolm is a very different man from whom he once was. The death of his wife Rebecca left him slightly broken. Plenty of people could have helped her, but didn't, breaking his faith in humanity. Malcolm vanished, traveling to a place named Nanda Parbat. While there, he was enlightened and trained by a secretive group. Upon his return, he threw himself into his work with Merlyn Global, while plotting. Malcolm devised a plan to wipe out the Glades and then to rebuild it as a fixed part of the city.
While doing this, Malcolm decided to become his own enforcer so as to ensure his comrades' loyalty. He donned the outfit he wore while training in Nanda Parbat and became the Dark Archer, murdering those who faltered or got too close to the truth. His plan is still in the early stages, however, and is far from coming to fruition. While he is operating under the Dark Archer identity, he prefers to work behind the scenes, and wishes to not confront the Vigilante at this time.

History
Malcolm is something of a self-made man. He made all the right decisions when entering into the business world, and soon formed Merlyn Global. He was married to a beautiful, kind woman named Rebecca and together the two had a son: Thomas, or Tommy. The family would be well-off for their entire life, and all would go well. Or so they thought. One night, while in the Glades, Rebecca was murdered. Because Malcolm ignored her calls, she died there, a casualty of the city. Malcolm left Starling City, essentially abandoning the still-young Tommy.
Malcolm traveled to a sanctuary in India called Nanda Parbat, where he "found enlightenment". He conditioned his body to become a fighter and his mind to put himself at peace. He returned after spending a few years in Nanda Parbat, with a few secretive skills that he had refined, such as archery and swordsmanship. Malcolm continued the work of Merlyn Global, while publicly trying to clean up the Glades. This didn't work however, so he set about cleaning the Glades through less legal and moral means. Malcolm has spent the past few years, including those Oliver spent on the island, plotting and getting together a group to remove the stain that is the Glades from Starling City.
Now that the Vigilante is going around getting rid of criminals, including some connected to Malcolm's plots, and a few people in his plots are starting to waver. So Malcolm has taken on the role of a criminal called "Dark Archer", killing those in the way of his plans.
