"Ah there's someone somewhere that always reads too much into things. Can't be that bad, can it?" Oliver gave, deciding to sympathize with his sister's view for that moment.

She shook her head, "No. It's just Mom worrying about nothing. Everything's ok, he's not trying to get our secrets or anything like that."

"Yeah. Everything's good." Oliver gave, a smile on his face. A gentle ruffle of his sister's hair would ensue before he pulls his hand away. Yeah, he wasn't sure where to go from here. 5 years on an island will do that to ya.

She sighed and tried to push his hand away before he withdrew it, "...what was it like?" she asked him, "The island?" Maybe she shouldn't ask him, but she wanted to hear what he had to say.

I knew it He thought, sighing and turning his back, to walk over to the dresser. "It was hell, Thea. Nothing like an amusement park or a vacation trip.." he says, opening it and getting out a white undershirt, black tie and black suit. "I wouldn't wish it on anyone I cared about."

She nodded, "Well, of course not," she said, "But...how did you even survive for five years? Especially so...so well? I mean, you're not suffering from weight loss or malnutrition or anything like that..."

As she said that, his shirt was up and over his head, since he decided that he might as well get dressed while talking to her, and the sight before her would prove the answer to her question. He would expound more in a moment.

She stood there, staring at his body, at his scars, "Just what happened to you?" she asked softly, "How did all of this happen? How are you still so...so strong?"

"Like I said Thea...it was hell. Torture, beatings, things people shouldn't speak to their little sisters about. I did what I had to do to survive. That island changed me. And took away the part of me that appreciated being alive."

She remained silent and looked away, listening to his words, thinking, "Torture...beatings?" she questioned, "What the hell happened to you?" she demanded.

A flashback occurs in his mind to being beaten, saved, and then having a blade stuck in him by a masked freak.
"...." after a minute, he looks back at her. "I'm not talking about it any further." he begins to put on the white undershirt.

"You can't just say that!" she shouted at him, "You were beaten and tortured! What the hell happened to you? Tell me!" The shouting, the desire to know more was out of love and fear for her brother, and what happened. It was different to be on a deserted island, but this? No, this was different.

"I'm not ready to speak about it!" He shouted back. "Those 5 years damaged me physically and mentally, do you think I want to damage those I care about with stories of what happened? I still have nightmares about it!" He throws on his jacket and steps past her, going for the door. "It's to protect you, Thea. It's what Dad would have wanted me to do."

"And how is keeping me in the dark about what happened protecting me? Do you think I'm going to have nightmares? If I know what happened, I can try to help you! You being vague and not telling me anything is making me worry! By not talking, you're making everything worse! Don't you see that?"

He just stares at her, his eyes softening a little in regret before shaking his head. "There's too much you wouldn't understand." Oliver said sadly. "I'm sorry." he adds, though the apology would fix little. Instead he turns on his heel and walks out of the room.
