Thea took some time to eat, but she did notice her mother's pace. She set her fork down, figuring she should talk to her mother. This line of conversation wasn't going anywhere, so she needed something new. "How's the company?" Ok, not the best question, but it came to mind and that's all she had to ask. She was trying to think of something else.

"Oh?" she raised an eyebrow, "I didn't think you were into business, especially mine."
She smiled a little at the effort her daughter was at least trying to put in.
"Business is going fine, especially our newly revamped personal technologies department. Our analysts predicts we could even outsell Wayne Enterprises in due time."

At the mention of Wayne Enterprises she kind of froze, and then nodded, "Wayne, ok..." she said, still wondering about Richard's past and why Bruce Wayne had taken him in. That was still a tory she didn't know anything about.

Moira was a little suspicious of her reaction just there. She decided to change the subject to veer towards something of a more interesting nature, at least to her.
"Anything else you want to talk about? Any new fellas in your life perhaps?"

She took a breath and nodded to her mother, "Actually, yes." she told Moira. She took a moment, then answered, "Richard Grayson. I'm sure you've at least heard about him if nothing else."

"Richard Grayson?" it took a minute to shift through her mental files but eventually a sense of recognition flashed onto her face, "Bruce Wayne's adopted son?"

She nodded once and let out a bit of a breath, "Yes. Him," she said, "He's in Starling now, attending college here. We met," she didn't say where. She wasn't going to say it was at a party and both were wasted, "and now we're together."

"Is that so?" she crossed her arms subtlety, "And when did you plan to introduce us?"
It wasn't that she was against her daughter dating. She was just a little more than suspicious of the sons of one of her top competitors and his intentions.

"The first time he was here he sounded like he wanted to meet you, but you weren't here that day," Thea told her. Maybe she shouldn't have said that, since it implied she had a boy over and was alone with him. Maybe her mother might not see it that way...

"He was over here, hmm? I see," she took another causal sip of wine, "I'm more than curious on why Mr. Grayson is going to school here in Starling when Gotham city has a perfectly good university of their own with plenty of generous donations from Mr. Wayne of course."

Thea gave Moira a look, "Does it matter? The fact is that he's here, and we're dating. I'm not going to question one of the few good things to come into my life in the past five years," she told Moira with more than a hint of anger and annoyance in her voice.

Moira opened her mouthful to interject, but quickly closed it.
She then sighed, "Look Thea, I didn't.."
That was when the hall phone began to ring. She ignored it at first, but when it began to ring a second time, she stood up and excused herself believing it be some urgent business matter.
She picked it up and conversed with the man on the other line, "Hello? This is Moria Queen. Can I help you?"

Thea sighed and ignored her food. She started to drink more wine and completely ignore her mother. She picked up the bottle and poured more. And this was going so well too...

The phone dropped to the floor.
"Hello? Mrs. Queen? Are you still there?" said the voice on the other line before cutting off when no answer was received.
Shock was plastered all over Moira's face as she quietly returned to her seat in the dining hall.

Thea looked up from her drink. She set the glass down, "What is it? That look on your face...," Thea said, unsure of what else she could even say about it.
