"Yeeeah I've gotten that a lot." He laughs. "But I've shrugged it off really. You? I'll be a little more forthcoming. That place was hell. As for surviving? I just...did." He gave. That was a fairly accurate assessment of it, so far.

Tommy nodded, "I can see that," he said. "I don't feel right asking you, so let's just move onto something else. I'd rather not make you live in the last five years. You're back home now, let's look ahead."

"Thank you...Tommy. I wish more people had that outlook." Oliver chuckles a bit. "So. Still my playboy buddy in crime or have you found someone you liked yet?" That was a little forced, but came off naturally anyway.

He laughed a little, but it was kind of a nervous laugh, "Well..." Should he just tell him about Laurel? He sighed, "Yeah," he told Oliver, "Laurel."

Oliver's face looked surprised for a second, and then seemed rather resigned, taking on a more chill look. "Laurel." He repeated, digesting the idea in his mind. Laurel deserved better than himself, that's for sure. What's with the way he'd acted before, and how his actions had gotten Sara killed. Even if Sara had agreed to come.
"Good." He said after a few moments. "She deserves someone better than me."

Tommy remained silent, "We weren't sure when or how to tell you," he admitted. "Look, I really care about her. We...we both care about each other. We thought you were dead. If...if it makes you feel uncomfortable, I can talk to Laurel, but..." No. "But we're together, and we're staying that way."

He simply nods his head. "No man, it's cool." Oliver gave, putting his hands up in front of him for extra effect. "It's completely cool. I'm happy for the two of you. All I intend to do regarding her is say hello again, apologize, and move on. She deserves that much from me."

"It might not be best to do that right away. Let me talk to her first." He wasn't sure how she'd take seeing him like that, so he wanted to try to do his part in defusing any tension she might still have towards him. Well, not might have. He knew it was there.

"Yeah. Alright." Oliver gave, deciding to defer to Tommy on that. "But it needs to be done. She may never believe me. But I've changed. I'm truly sorry about what they hate me for. And once I say that to her, it may be best for her if she stays away from me."

"Stay away from you?" he asked. Well, she'd have no problems doing that, but to hear Oliver admit that was odd. Something about the way he said it just felt odd. Tommy couldn't put his finger on it though, so he just nodded, "Yeah, right..."

"People get hurt, being around me." Oliver gave, sadly. "And I have a feeling it'll continue to happen. So if I keep my distance from those I care about..the only one hurt will be me. I don't want Laurel to get hurt by me anymore."

Tommy nodded. Was he talking about Sara's death? He wasn't sure, "That's not keeping me away, though. Five years gone was too much. I'm not going to stay away any longer than that."

He was talking about that. The cheating, the death...the other trauma. "Well that's good Tommy. You're a good friend. Just want you to be forewarned, is all. Wouldn't leave you out to dry if bad things started to happen to me and you got hurt because of it."

Tommy smiled, "Glad to know you're worried about me, but I've been through enough shit, with and without you, so I think it'll all turn out just fine. Besides, what's the worst that could happen?" Tommy asked. He didn't know about the appearance of the hooded man in Starling, not yet, and didn't know anything about the dangerous secret his friend kept.

Oliver nodded, and was about to say something when he hears the TV cue in to a news update. Apparently the news had broken away long enough to run a short cut on the rescue of an SCPD detective and the appearance of a stranger wearing a hood. Press release details were skimmed through as Oliver looked on quietly.
