The silver sedan pulled into the large driveway as Laurel took in the sight of the Queen Mansion. It had been five years since she had been to this residence, figuring that she would never return. It was nothing to do with the current residents, Thea and Moira had once been a huge part of Laurel's young life, but it was the memories of the house that kept Laurel away. Kept her away for too long. Parking the car, Laurel left her bag on the passenger seat as she stepped out. The Queen estate was one of the most secure places in Starling, with their own person security team that did rounds on the grounds.
Walking up to the front door, Laurel took in a deep breath as she looked around at the surroundings. How many times had she stood on these very steps with Oliver? Flirting, sneaking in last-second kisses before they walked in the door, all the silly things that teenagers did to try and avoid being caught by their parents. Moira and Robert knew from the very beginning, they had to know, but Laurel and Oliver didn't realize such things when they were young, still in high school. Getting older only intensified their relationship...and gave them more confidence, sneaking Laurel in late at night, then out in the morning. So many memories that had soured and hardened Laurel at the thought of them.
Knocking on the door, Laurel waited patiently until the door was opened by a familiar face. After all these years, Laurel was almost surprised that the staff had stayed pretty much the same. "Raisa, hello. I came to see if Thea was around?" Smiling to the older woman, Laurel could remember how tender Raisa had always been with the children in the house. Patient and loving, yet strong and strict when the time called for it. As Raisa ushered Laurel inside, Laurel stepped into the house and continued to look around. The pictures on the table in the foyer, showcasing the entire Queen family, especially Robert and Oliver. Oliver looked so young in them, and yet, Laurel had no 'older' memories of him beyond his young twenties. In one picture, the entire family stood in front of the Queen's Gambit, Robert's prized yacht that had been his unexpected demise. It was almost as though Robert and Oliver had lived through the ordeal, like nothing bad had happened to this happy family in the photo that stared back at her.

As per usual, Thea had been out late last night. However, unlike the usual, she was more awake this morning. It might have been because she hadn't drank as much. She'd been cutting back a little, although she wasn't sure why. Maybe it was because she had a reason to be happy now, with Richard, but maybe not. She didn't mind not getting as drunk anymore, although she still got drunk and high.
She did have a bit of a hangover as she went into the bathroom and splashed water on her face to try to see if that might help. She'd yet to find a way to fix it, but this helped at least a bit. Or so it felt, it might have been psychological. But whatever worked. She grabbed a towel and toweled off her face before heading back to go to her room and actually get dressed. For now she had only a robe on.

Left alone in the foyer of the house, it was nothing new to Laurel. She was once a welcome guest in this house, practically living here it seemed. Walking away from the pictures, Laurel headed to the staircase, slowly mounting the stairs up to the second floor. Turning down the hall, Laurel walked to Thea's old room, assuming she had kept her room. Knocking gently on the door, Laurel waited patiently outside. "Thea? It's Laurel. Tommy told me he brought you home the other day, I wanted to make sure you're feeling better."

Thea stopped in the hallway and looked at Laurel, "Well, it's been a while since I've seen you around here," she said. She walked over to Laurel, but just went to open her door and go inside her room. She left the door open behind her as she went over to her closet. She wasn't sure what to think of Laurel being here, since it had been years. But then again, Tommy had been around recently, and she figured it could be connected.

Laurel's head turned quickly to face Thea in the hallway, stepping back so the younger girl could get to her bedroom. "Tommy told me you had a rough night recently, are you feeling better?" Laurel avoided the accusations of Thea drinking or doing drugs, focusing instead on Thea. Stepping into the room behind the girl, Laurel stood in the middle of the room, her hands at her side. "I know I haven't been around, and that's my fault. I'm sorry I got wrapped up in my career."

"What's there to be sorry about?" Thea questioned her as she pulled a shirt off of her rack. She tossed it onto her bed and started to look for pants, "Oliver's dead, you don't have a reason to be here. Besides, it's not like we were ever friends. The age gap didn't help with that," she told Laurel. She had maybe tried as a child, because that felt like the right thing to do, but it was naive.

"You're right, we weren't friends, but that doesn't mean I didn't care about you." Watching the girl pick out an outfit for the day, or for whatever occasion Thea was planning to attend, Laurel watched in silence before speaking up again. "When Sara died, I forgot how to have relationships of any kind. Tommy's been helping me learn how to do that again, and I had hoped that you would be interested in another friend."

She stopped and turned around, "I don't think you and I can be friends," she told Laurel. It wasn't meant to be a harsh statement or anything, but she just didn't see how that worked. She'd slept with Oliver for years, dated him, and now years after his death, she wanted to turn around and be friends with his little sister?

Laurel was shocked to hear Thea turn her down so quickly, without even a thought. She hadn't been yelled at... yet, that was a start considering the options she and Tommy had thrown about the previous night. "We got along before, I don't see any reason why we can't be friends. Maybe the age gap was a bit awkwardbef ore, but you aren't a kid anymore."

She turned and gave Laurel a questioning look, "I'm seventeen. I think that's still a kid." That was more of a shot at her being a lawyer than anything, and that she should probably not have any reason to call Thea anything but a kid. She didn't mean to be an ass to Laurel, but this entire thing was bothering her. Laurel being here and trying to bridge this gap was just weird.

Staring back at Thea, Laurel barely even blinked, putting on her 'lawyer' face, stoic and without emotion. "I don't think of you as a kid Thea." It was true, Thea's actions lately were very adult-like and eventually the consequences would be too, but Laurel wasn't going to bring that up, she wasn't here for a fight with Thea. "Have I done something to personally offend you Thea? You weren't this cold to Tommy, were you?"

"I was drunk and passed out when Tommy saw me," she told Laurel, "I didn't actually have to talk to him." She threw pants onto her bed and went to find undergarments to put on, "Look, I just don't see the point. It's weird. You were Ollie's girlfriend, he's dead, so...well, you and I were never close."

"I'm glad Tommy was the one that came and got you." If it hadn't been Tommy... Laurel didn't want to consider that thought, it was scary. "Thea, I've known you practically since you were born. You might not remember it all, but I do. There were a couple times Oliver and I watched you, much to his frustration." Oliver had been frustrated over anything that came between him and girls, though he always loved Thea, she had always been a weakness of Oliver's.

"Yeah. Watching me isn't the same. If I babysit someone that doesn't necessarily give me a bond with them that makes me want to be friends with them years later." She dropped her robe and ignored Laurel as she began to pull on her undergarments, "You're worried about my behavior, aren't you? Tommy probably is too. Don't worry, I know what I'm doing. And I had someone that night to help me." She turned to Laurel, wearing only her underwear, "We're entirely different people. This isn't going to work out like you hope."

As Thea dropped the robe, Laurel kept the same stoic expression on her face, not giving into Thea's antics. If she was trying to make Laurel feel uncomfortable to push her away, it wasn't going to happen so easily. Laurel had survived dating Oliver for years, and he was better at pushing back. "Tommy is worried about your behavior, that's why he said something to me. I'm more concerned about you though. I was never naive. I know you aren't doing anything Oliver didn't do, but he also had really good friends that told him when he was going too far."
