Yup. She paused. That was her. Marigold hurried after her. She should not be diving deep in alcohol at her age. "If you don't want an incident you better stop," she said authoritatively.

Thea sighed and turned to look at her, "You're far from my mother," she told Marigold. Just someone trying to give her advice that she didn't want. Waste of time.

"Unlike your mother I actually have the power to arrest you," Marigold shot back. "And trust me, I don't want kids. Looking after my younger brother and sister was enough." It wasn't their fault she'd hat to play mother. That would be her good for nothing Father's fault. But now that they were actually able to support themselves, she had no desire to jump into that role again. Besides, she still worried about them.

She looked at Marigold in confusion, "Arrest me?" she questioned. Oh shit, was she a cop or something? Should she just try to go? But that might not go well, and well, she knew who Thea was...

Marigold sighed. She was technically off the clock at the moment and she had much bigger shit to deal with. It might be odd for someone in her position but she wasn't necessarily the greatest stickler for rules. She understood that desperate people did desperate things. She'd certainly broken more than her fair share of laws in the Glades as a child. And some rules were definitely more important than others.
She didn't think people should sweat the drinking underage thing as much as they did. All the same, drinking was not the way to solve problems. Marigold had seen how well that ended up with her father. That drugs and gambling was a very bad mix. So...she felt she had some responsibility to try and convince people not to head down that dark rode. And although this girl was a good deal younger than Lizzie, somehow she reminded her of her little sister a bit.
"I'm SCPD," she said, showing Thea her badge so she didn't have to take her word for it. "But relax. I don't want to arrest you." Kids did stupid things. They should learn from them not have the whole book thrown at them. "Hand over your fake I.D. and spare me a bit of your time and there's no need to file a report."

Thea wasn't quite sure what to make of it. Should she just hand it over and get this over with? She could get another ID easily enough, but would this actually pay off? Or would this officer screw her over. She stood there for a moment and sighed before walking over to her and holding her ID out.

Marigold was relieved when Thea came over, holding out her fake I.D. She had thought Thea might try and make a run for it. That would have gotten annoying quick. She gratefully accepted the I.D. and pocketed it, being very much aware of how easy it would be for someone with Thea's cash to get another one. She gestured for Thea to sit down and tried to figure out what she could possibly say to the girl that would make a lick of difference. Troubled people got thirsty and took to drinking...Not much could stop them. And only idiots thought that rich people didn't have troubles.
"Why?" she asked simply.

Thea looked at her gesture, but didn't move. She folded her arms instead where she stood, "Why what?" she questioned. She knew what Marigold meant; why drink and use a fake ID and all that crap. Or at least she was sure of that, what else would it be?

Marigold rolled her eyes. "You're not an idiot. Don't pretend to be." Why was answering the question so difficult? Okay, stupid question. If people had tough times they didn't necessarily like to share them. Well tough. If she didn't want a file she was talking.
"This isn't a first time thing for you. If you just wanted a quick drink you'd get an older friend or even a stranger to buy you alcohol. Not that hard. But you do this lot or at least plan to do this a lot hence fake I.D. Why?"

"Because my real ID would be rejected," she told Marigold. That was truthful, although of course, a snarky response. This was probably a very stupid thing to be doing, but oh well, she didn't want to arrest Thea, so it should be fine. Probably.
Maybe she gambled a bit too much on stuff like this.

"Again with the you're not an idiot. Stop dodging the question before I change my mind about writing a file." Well, not like she hadn't expected this. Kids who did stuff like this weren't typically cooperative, particularly if they had cash to burn. But rich kids usually needed people to give them a good kick in the shins since most people left people with money alone.

"Because I'm young and bored, just like everyone else," she told Marigold. Honestly, she meant that one as a serious answer, not as another condescending or snarky remark. It held enough truth to it.

"No one's just like everyone else. Everyone has messed up shit, rich people no less than anyone else. Sometimes more. There's clearly more than boredom involved, you drinking at this hour. So what's up?" Why was she even bothering? Did she actually think she could say anything that would stick in this girl's head? People that wanted to drink would drink. And if people got it in their head that alcohol solved problems or caused blissful ignorance...Resistance was practically futile.

"Nothing's 'up'," she told Marigold. That was true, she was just drinking here with friends, hanging out with friends. The way it was phrased, Thea figured she meant there was probably a problem that Thea might be trying to drink her way out from, or something. And that was far from the truth, "Just here with friends and drinking with them. Nothing else."

"You and your friends should really find a better way to spend your time," she said with a sigh. This was all but pointless. If she went full out preach mode girl would never listen. "Or you should at least be less stupid about how you get your alcohol. A drink now and again won't kill you. But if you actually want to go to college or get hired one day, a record looks nasty on an application."
